[ BACKGROUND ][ PICTURES ][ RESULTS ][ PEDIGREE ][ A-LITTER ] Kimble alias Mureena, Kimpula, Loviisa, Murina, Surina, Muri-Muri, Lihaisa Mureke, Kryyni, Eskapissis, Hitsinpimpula, Simskeli, Misse, Kimpel, Pop-o-Matic, Mishmish, Chinchilla, Tispe, Kippe, Mipumapu, Viitapiru, Kimberly, Muspelheim, Massey Ferguson, Muppe Kimble was the 3rd to be born and screaming mightily once freed from the membranes. In the following weeks she concentrated on eating and developing fatty folds. She was a fat puppy, snubnosed, at least she seemed to have a shorter muzzle than the others, whether optical illusion or an illusion created by fat. Either way Kimble was a fatso. We had initially meant to call our pup Kimble. Of course it was silly: naming a pup Kimble in the middle of the whelping. But that's what happened. From the start Kimpula was the most laid back and quiet of the pups. While weighing the others on the kitchen scales was challenging as the pups wobbled noisily, Kimble slumped onto the scales and continued napping. At 4 weeks the pups were more or less scared of leaving our yard, but our little Zen dog was unfazed and simply curled up to sleep in the driveway. In general Kimble showed great nerve and courage toward everything new. We had intended to place one of the bitches with Annukka on breeding terms, and since she chose Kimble right off the bat, it was clear that the grizzle princes would move in with her and Reaver. At the same time her name changed from Kimble to Mureena (Finnish for Moray Eel): it was a fitting name for the pup that fiercely shot out of the canvas tunnel to latch on to her owner's ankle. Mureena was the last to leave, leaving Hasina to pine for her sister at 10 weeks. Since then Mureena has spent several stnts of various lengths with us while Annukka has changed jobs, moved and travelled. Mureena has not minded this arrangement - or so we thought. As much as Mureena liked it with Annukka and Reaver, being left alone at home has not gone smoothly. After peeing on nearly every fabric in the house, including her own bed, several times, while alone at home with Reaver, we had to admit something was wrong. When staying with us Mureena doesn't really have a problem with peeing indoors, even when being alone with the other dogs for hours at a time. Certainly Mureena has been slower to being housebroken t han her sister, but also much more discreet about communicating when she needs to go outside. Whereas Hasina will signal her need with a variety of vocalizations, Mureena only quitely says "peeeeh". At the end of February Mureena again came to stay with us for a while, so we could see how things develop and then think about how to move forward. As everything went smoothly we decided to keep her - a decision that seems to make her sister and mother very happy too, as well as everyone else. Kimble got her puppy name back when she moved to live with us. Kimpula took us completely by surprise by getting her racing licence in August 2009, as well as taking part in other dogs' licence runs as a reliable partner. Mispe had 9 group starts to her name even before the 2010 season began. So we went ahead with faith in the future. Just before the competition season began, Kimble was in heat, so we could begin competing right away in May, knowing that Kimble would most likely peak around July-August. Mippe is a conscientious and sure runner, she doesn't fuss, doesn't rave before starting, but shows her desire for the track with calm determination. Kimble seems to greatly enjoy track racing, things have always gone smoothly there and we've been spared any complications. She passes the RC-time comfortably at the right hormonal stage. When in the throes of a false pregnancy her times slow to about 35-36 seconds, but even in that state Kimble is a sure and motivated runner. Kimble's path has been rocky when it comes to lure-coursing. She's fallen into a ditch, been chased by her running mate and slipped in mud. No wonder then that Mippe hasn't quite understood what she's really supposed to do at lure-courses. She does fine running alone or with a friend - or a stranger of another breed. Time and training will tell if we can get her to compete in fields and sand quarries. Mippe is a loyal escapist, who charms people with her calm and adaptability. There is not a place where Kimble hasn't enjoyed herself nor a caretaker who hasn't wanted her for their own. Mispe is truly the easiest dog in the world. Intelligent, well behaved, just, independent, brave, friendly and suitably mischievous. Kimble has the same appeal as her mother. An incredible dog - and very dear to us. Every morning is a source of joy and if we humans don't immediately perceive this, Mippe doesn't hesitate to use her paws. Thus far we have escaped with relatively minor injuries. She rarely says a word indoors, which is in stark contrast to the amount of vowels Mippe emits when she sees a cat, hare, squirrel or anything she wants dead - and she wants it. Our grizzle shepard of souls has plenty of upwardly energy. She flies over all obstacles with astounding lightness both on the agility field and in the forest. The only problem (from a human standpoint) is the unpredictability of that energy and the sudden changes in its direction. Sometimes even Kimble seem to have trouble keeping up with it and so this thickfooted flash on a spring shoots around uncontrolably with her eyes ablaze. At those times all one can do is wait, she will stop at SOME point. ~ Sanja >> March 2009 [ LURE-COURSING ][ TRACK RACING ][ SHOWS ] Lure-Coursing Results 2011 12.03. 2011 Mustiala, Winter Coursing - 221 p. + 227 p. = 448 p., placed 2/12, CC 14.05. 2011 Turku - 253 p. + 201 p. = 454 p., placed 10/22, CQ 28.08. 2011 Helsinki, Finnish Lure-Coursing Championship - 191 p. + DISQ ~ VIDEO 2010 27.02. 2010 Mustiala, Winter Coursing - 244 p. + 242 p. = 486 p., placed 4/19, CQ ~ VIDEO 22.05. 2010 Hyvinkää - 173 p., placed 8/11 ~ VIDEO 20.06. 2010 Mustiala, Finnish Saluki Club's Lure-Coursing Championship - 221 p.
