alias Kati, Katti-Matti, Mehu-Katti, Jatimatikki, Hasselhof, Annikki, Kapernautti
A dog of many happenstances. Skatiya was supposed to journey through Finland to France and a new owner. However, a couple of days after she arrived in Finland, things changed and France was no longer an option. For a while we thought she would travel to Switzerland instead, but that plan never really took off.
In December of 2010 I asked Kati's breeder if she'd agree to let me register her with the Finnish Kennel Club and try to find her a home in Finland. Tatyana agreed - this way she'd be sure to hear about her in future. I had already resolved to keep Kati myself, when life's realities intervened. A possible move and two adolescent, hurricane-like Borzoi would not necessarily be the most practical option in a more urban setting.
We had been to lure-coursing practices in Heinola with Kati and Seva when they were 5 months old. The puppies generated much interest, but Leena was the one who asked about Kati via e-mail as well. In February 2012 I decided that things had to be arranged and offered Kati to Leena on co-ownership.
And there she went and immediately settled into her new home and pack, occasionally causing her new owner some grey hairs with her antics, but on the whole being her own charming and loveable self. It is still best to keep valuables, shoes, cell phones and such out of Matikainen's reach. Kati also enjoys a variety of bottles and cans - a few beers vanished from the porch into the New Year's night...
Kati is an active buzzer, runner, agile and enduring. Beautiful and fast, as a good Borzoi should be.~ Sanja
